Gloriosa carsonii Blechnum Thanks to Texas plantsman PatGloriosa carsonii is a deciduous woodland vine that hails from much of East Africa, but is prized ornamentally around the world. From a thickened root, Gloriosa emerges in spring with green stems that attach it to nearby vertical structures via tendrils. The 8' long, deciduous vine is home to flowers that resemble a hovering bird yellow petals, highlighted by a dramatic central purple pattern down the center. For us, Gloriosa carsonii starts flowering
