Farfugium japonicum var luchuense Basho Ogi Actaea Hibiscus 'Robert Fleming' is topped

Farfugium japonicum var luchuense Basho Ogi Actaea Hibiscus 'Robert Fleming' is topped

Yard notes & kiln story

Description

Hibiscus 'Robert Fleming' is topped with clusters of large 7" shiny

(despite officially being rejected by the really bright EU breeders rights officials who prefer nonsensical names)

The clumps enlarge thanks to a slowly spreading rhizome

adorned in winter with short stalks of bright red berries during the winter holiday season

so this epimedium only began to make the rounds after she sent a piece to Professor William Stearn

Farfugium japonicum var luchuense Basho Ogi Actaea Hibiscus 'Robert Fleming' is toppedFarfugium 'Basho Ogi' is a little known Japanese selection of Farfugium japonicum var. luchuense. The 8" tall x 2' wide clumps are composed of odd shaped 4" long x 5" wide leaves, nicely speckled yellow. Starting for us in mid October, the clumps are topped with 2' tall branched scapes of yellow aster like flowers. Moist, rich soils produce the best plants.
