Lilium maculatum ssp davuricum f rebunense Paeonia I was taken (not literally)
Yard notes & kiln story
Description
I was taken (not literally) by this tetraploid mutation of Hosta 'On Stage' when I visited Hans Hansen's Minnesota garden
The result is what appears to be a Cyclamen hederifolium on steroids
15" tall x 15" wide clump
There is a possibility that this may eventually be determined to be a new species (Probst 2005)
For us in NC
Lilium maculatum ssp davuricum f rebunense Paeonia I was taken (not literally)I knew I was in love again when Lilium maculatum ssp. davuricum f. rebunense first flowered in our garden in 2012. The dwarf Rebun Island lily is endemic to Japan's Rebun Island, north of Hokkaido (same latitude as Montreal, Canada), where it grows among the rocks along the seacoast. Rebun Island is known for its dwarf alpine plants and this form of Lilium maculatum ssp. davuricum is no exception. In our garden, Rebun lily tops out at an amazing 5"
