The late JC Raulston had the idea of crossing the Asian Calycanthus sinensis with the native Calycanthus floridus. The result was an amazing plant whose fast growing, 8' tall branches are covered with large, glossy, green leaves as well as hundreds of 2", liver red flowers from mid April to May.
