This medal was proposed by a group of veterans and subsequently created to commemorative the end of operations in Northern Ireland
constructing facilities and clearing battlefields
being awarded on only one occasion to Staff Sergeant J D Coughlan RAAF for his great gallantry while operating as a helicopter winch man during the Vietnam War in 1968
