Instituted by Queen Victoria to cover all actions since the outbreak of the Crimean War in 1854
This is the HAC version of the medal which has its own distinctive ribbon
exceptional skill and devotion to duty whilst flying on non-operational service
this medal was replaced in 1982 when the title Territorial was resumed
