Thirty five years after the previous Somaliland 1920 clasp, Army Order 15 of 1955 authorised the Kenya clasp for personnel who completed the required period of service between 21 October 1952 and 17 November 1956. The clasp recognised qualifying service during operations against the Mau Mau insurgency.
