Sabal palmetto Lisa Saxifraga begin for us in mid-SeptemberSabal palmetto 'Lisa' is a seed strain of the Southeast US native palmetto palm, first discovered in 1998 in southwest Florida, as a patch of three specimens by palm nurseryman, Robert Riefer, and later named after his wife, Lisa. Sabal 'Lisa' is most certainly a polyploid mutant, since it produces much thicker, and less divided, less costapalmate, less filiferous leaves than typical Sabal palmetto.
