Yard notes & kiln story

Description

Most are spring bloomers and as such add much to the spring display in shade gardens

The clumps are topped with 28" tall scapes of large pale lavender flowers that attract hummingbirds in mid-September

nicely vigorous and it goes without saying that any plant with bacon in its name must be good

deciduous clump of stunning purple foliage with silver stripes along the vein lines and tips

Any solid green shoots should be removed when they occur

Epimedium sempervirens Candy Hearts Plants from China Most are spring bloomers andEpimedium sempervirens 'Candy Hearts' is a 2001 Darrell Probst introduction that forms a 10" tall x 2' wide, semi evergreen clump of dark green foliage that emerges rosy violet in late winter, morphs to green leaves with a violet edge, then finally changes to solid green. The clumps are topped, starting in early April (NC), with terminal clusters of light lavender flowers that just top the emerging foliage quite special in the early spring garden.
